Ukraine witnessed the highest volume of new business formations in the information technology domain during the initial quarter of 2026, with 902 entities established, marking an 89% surge compared to the same period in the preceding year.
These figures are derived from an analysis conducted by YouControl, specifically within their YC.Market research initiative.
The wholesale trade sector secured the second position for newly established businesses, accounting for 860 enterprises, which represents a 6% decrease. Occupying the third spot was the real estate operations sector, with 690 newly registered companies, indicating a 24% increase.
Concurrently, the agricultural sector experienced the most significant downturn in the number of new company registrations among sectors with moderate registration volumes. Specifically, 360 enterprises were incorporated in the first quarter, reflecting a 24% decline.
Meanwhile, mechanical engineering, with 223 new entities, demonstrated a modest expansion of just over 6%. The food industry, registering 211 companies, saw a decrease of 8%.
The wholesale trade sector recorded the largest quantity of dissolved companies, totaling 69 enterprises, though this figure is 30% lower than that of the first quarter of 2025. Real estate operations followed, with 55 business closures, exhibiting no year-on-year change, and the construction sector reported 52 closures, registering a notable 58% increase.
«Within sectors experiencing a considerable number of dissolutions, agriculture also merits attention, with 44 companies, mirroring last year’s figures. Transport and logistics presented 42 companies, witnessing a substantial 147% rise in closures. The food industry also observed an upswing, reaching 40 entities, a 21% increase, while healthcare facilities rose to 37, up by 48%,» the researchers elaborated.
